The 2011 Legacy Award Networking Reception drew about 200 plus people at CES on Thursday night last week. Were you there? Did you have fun? Did you meet anyone?

One of the benefits of our events is to open up the opportunity to meet and greet in a relaxed environment and to meet people in the industry, men and women, that you may not otherwise get to know. Happy holidays! Some of you are snowed in at this writing, so what better time to be sure you have your tickets to the Women in CE 2nd annual networking reception at CES! The Women in CE Legacy Awards 2011 honor five amazing, talented women and the reception is scheduled for Thursday, January 6th from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm at Paris in the Champagne Ballroom. The ceremony will take place at 8:00 pm.

We have a terrific list of nominations but if you have not weighed in yet, this is the last week to do so. As a paid member of Women in CE you are eligible to nominate women in our industry that have inspired you, women that you admire or aspire to emulate in your career.

Did you make it to the CEDIA Breakfast last Saturday morning? I had two companies tell me they were inspired to start their own company mentoring programs as a result of the keynote presentation by Nellie Myers. Check out the content of her power point that she was kind enough to share with us here, on the site.

Twas the week before CEDIA and all through the house…..you know, it is nuts! There are so many things going on this week as CEDIA kicks off its 21st year. This is our second year at CEDIA with our Women in CE Breakfast and our keynote speaker, Nellie Myers, founder of Glam-Mother speaks on the topic of mentoring. The Mentoring Edge:Partnering for Career Success is a topic near and dear to Women in CE! One of the many benefits of membership include the FREE mentoring program. It also includes discounted tickets to events such as the CEDIA Breakfast. Note we are sold out but you can take your chances at the door. A Modern Mentor is a Listener, Too is the title of the column. I love the part for Mentors that states that Mentoring is good professional karma as well as providing more concrete benefits.

This column also underscores that Mentoring is not a one-way street with senior people Mentoring junior people. Especially these days, it is the younger people that have so many new technical skills to teach the veterans in any industry.
